Can be used for bonsaiSmall tree 10-20 ftFull sunKeep soil moistEdibleSubtropical, cold hardy at least to 30s F for a short timeFlood tolerant

This rare variety of Jaboticaba is used for production of Hawaiian wine Volcano Red. Hawaiians have long honored Pele, the fiery goddess of the volcano. We have created a wine to honor her tempestuous, passionate spirit. Volcano Red is a medium bodied red wine that blends both red and white grapes with the island’s exotic jaboticaba berries.
Red Jaboticaba Vine is also popular in Brazil as La Vinotinto.
This variety is more vigorous and faster growing than regular Jaboticaba. Leaves are slightly bigger. The plant can take light freeze once established, and short periods of waterlogging.

Big tree > 20 ftFull sunRegular waterRed/crimson/vinous flowersYellow/orange flowersAttracts butterflies, hummingbirdsSeaside, salt tolerant plant

Thespesia populnea. Known as Milo in Hawaii, this tree is often planted in front of Buddhist Temples. Originally from the Old World, the Portia Tree was brought to Hawaii by early Polynesian settlers. The Tahitians considered it sacred and grew it near places of worship. The fruits, flowers and young leaves are edible. Has many traditional medicinal uses. The timber is hard, termite-resistant, has an attractive grain and dark-red color, and is naturally oily so it can be highly polished. As the timber does not impart a flavor, it is often used to carve wooden food bowls and food utensils in Hawaii. A fast growing shrub that grows into a small tree with spreading branches, it casts welcome shade and in Hawaii were planted near homes for this purpose. In India, they were planted to provide shade in coffee and tea plantations.

Xanthosoma albo-marginata - Mickey Mouse Taro

Semi-shade

Mickey Mouse Taro, Mighty Mouse. This curious variety of elephant ear is a must for every rare plant collection. Unusually variegated Aroid, it has irregularly margined leaves which when first opening, its edges are a cream yellow, later turning white, and often swirled. A show stopper! This plant is thought to be a mutation of a species. Most think it is a form of atrovirens or even a possible hybrid. The leaves are never identical most are streaked with large blotches of white on dark blue green leaves. One of the most odd features of the plant is the fact that most leaves will develop a small cup like pocket at the leaf tip and sometimes a small string like structure will form. Plants usually grow with leaves held horizontally. It is always a conversation piece in the garden. Mighty Mouse can reach 3-4 ft at full maturity making it a wonderful addition to your jungle. Plants produce tubers and can be wintered in either in a greenhouse or cool storage.
