Spectacular, large-flower variety that flowers twice a season, 'New Deal' is a remarkable "Christmas cactus" hybrid, completely lost to the trade today, which is being offered here for the first time after it was originally offered for purchase at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden over 80 years ago. That institution was having a special rare plant sale on the day of the famous presidential election on November 8, 1932, when F.D.R. was historically voted in as the next American president. Not only is New Deal an exceptionally obscure, heirloom cultivar especially easy to grow under average house plant conditions, it reliably produces almost an overabundance of brilliant violet-pink and white flowers which are easily an inch larger than any other variety. The plants we are offering are all 3rd generation vegetative propagation from an original specimen (still alive btw). Its name is identical to President Franklin D. Roosevel main campaign slogan.

Variegated Butter Cup, Cup of gold. Striking vine with glossy leaves and large showy white to yellow flowers.The flowers are truly spectacular, shaped like a chalice, 6-10" long, flaring open to 4-7" across. The five lobes of the corolla are reflexed, and each lobe is marked with a narrow purplish brown ridge on the inside. The flowers start out yellow and turn deeper golden as they age. They are fragrant, especially at night, with a scent reminiscent of coconut. Cup of gold blooms intermittently through the year, but mainly in the winter dry season.

Shrubby climber with showy, bright variegation. Very fast growing and easy to grow. Showy white flowers appear most of the year. It is a reliable plant that blooms very well and has a mild perfume. It will even bloom in more shade than most other vines. It is hard to kill with too much or too little water once established. It could be termed garden hardy.

This is a very rare in cultivation, showy, evergreen, slender-stemmed vine growing to 20 ft and bearing large nodding clusters of violet-blue flowers with yellow stamens in summer. They look spectacular along with hanging clusters of bright red fruit.

Yellow Elder. Beautiful small tree or shrub with yellow trumpet flowers, everblooming. Looks great as a standard.

Still tree, Yellow oleander, Lucky nut. Tree from tropical America with shiny dark green leaves, white sap, and yellow to peach, funnel shaped flowers. Fruit somewhat angular, smooth, with two large, oily seeds. The nuts growing on the tree planted in your yard supposedly bring good luck.

Several of the best-known Thunbergia species are climbers, but this native of tropical Africa is a sprawling shrub, very useful in mixed beds or as a low hedge. Responds well to regular pruning and can be shaped into a very bushy shrub, though this inhibits blooming. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil but will bloom in partial shade.
