Flowers are followed by large, globular fruit, reddish-brown in color, which do indeed resemble cannonballs and remain on the tree for many months. Australian Tree fern - one of the most tropical looking plants. Adds "Hawaii" spirit to your garden. It puts on growth very quickly. The fronds typically will reach about 8' long on a mature specimen, but, as with most tree ferns, they will be significantly stunted if kept in a pot. It will grow well in dappled (but not deep) shade, but also does well in some sun, even in hot climates, as long as the moisture supply is adequate. It also does relatively well in exposed, windy situations.

The dwarf coral tree is an ideal tree or shrub for the small garden, especially for people who love the scarlet flowers of the common coral tree (Erythrina lysistemon) but don't have the space for a large tree. Its small dimensions make it ideally suited to high density housing complexes where garden space is limited. It produces an impressive display of scarlet red flowers en-masse, which are a favorite with many different birds who enjoy the nectar. It likes full sun and well-drained soil and bloom best after a period of drought. Quite large cuttings root easily.
