Rhaphidophora tetrasperma - Monstera Ginny, Mini Monstera

Vine or creeperShadeSemi-shadeRegular waterModerate waterOrnamental foliage

Mini Monstera originated from Thailand. Sometimes called Dwarf Monstera or Monstera Ginny due to its resemblance to Monstera deliciosa, the leaves of Rhaphidophora tetrasperma are similarly split and stay quite small. This is a fast-growing vining plant that remains compact, can be grown in a pot or as a house plant. This plant is easy to care for and loves to climb and thrives in bright indirect light.
Pinnate foliage is depending on the individual plant's stage of life. Young plants have juvenile leaves that are not divided, but as the plant grows, they will start splitting, see a picture of a young plant.

The spectacular Bonfire tree produces flowers in short dense panicles which occur at the ends of the branches. The flowers are orange-red in color and hang downwards. The flowering stalks together with flowers are covered with fine downy hairs giving the whole inflorescence a soft, velvety look. During flowering phase, this Scarlet Sterculia is quite prominent and presents a brilliant sight because of its orange-red flowers against a leafless state. The plant goes dormant during winter and loses leaves. Young trees grown from a bulb/caudex and can be grown as a bonsai plant. When planted in the ground, it grows into a large tree.

Stifftia chrysantha - Pompom, Rabo-de-Cutia

Large shrub 5-10 ftFull sunRegular waterRed/crimson/vinous flowersYellow/orange flowersAttracts butterflies, hummingbirds

Stifftia chrysantha is an exotic, rare flowering small tree with spectacular flowers, endemic to the vast tropical savanna ecoregion of Brazil called Cerrado. It grows into a bushy, attractive tree between 8 and 15 ft tall and starts flowering within 1.5 - 2.5 years from seed. It is a very rewarding plant that blooms 9 months out of the year, starting in Winter with great intensity during July-September, with each flower staying on the plant for several weeks. Seeds ripen from September through November.
The tree belongs to Aster family (Compositae) and has nothing to do with Powderpuffs which are from Bean (Fabaceae) family. The flower has 30 to 40 green, imbricated scales with short hairs, and actinomorphic corollas are orange below and darker above. After flowering, the inflorescence blows apart, which would scatter seeds. The dried center remaining is very attractive, like a small dried flower, and lasts for many months.
Stifftia can be grown in full sun to partial shade and is relatively cold tolerant, can take short cold spells.
The plant doesn't like wet feet and heavy/soggy soils; requires very well drained, acidic soil. Let soil slightly dry between waterings. It can be grown in full sun to partial shade and is relatively cold tolerant, can take short cold spells. If grown in a pot, try to keep the container shaded because roots don't like to be overheated.

Origin: Tropical West Africa. A curious flower! Wild and unusual floral display arrives from late spring to fall on this shrubby vine. Clusters of cream-colored flowers bedecked with long, curly streamers and a rust-tinted throat. Occurring off-and-on throughout the year, flowering is heaviest in spring and summer. The faintly fragrant flowers are short trumpets with five curled petals that are very light pink (aging to creamy light yellow) with a reddish brown base. The tips of the petals become narrowed and elongated, forming a twisting, sticky string that dangles down from the flower and touches lower leaves. During winter might drop leaves.

With its fragrant white flowers of a beautiful shape and very dark green waxy leaves, elongated and pointed, this plant is an amazing addition to a rare fragrant plant collection.
Slow growing, and low growing bush which makes it very valuable for landscape understory. It can be trimmed and maintained in small size 3-4 ft; however if you let it go it will grow into very attractive, dense and bushy specimen up to 5-6 ft tall. Great specimen, accent plant, and container plant.
This rare species of Tabernaemontana is often confused with T. divaricata (commonly known as Pinwheel Jasmine) and T. orientalis (Banana Bush). However this Australian relative of Pinwheen Jasmine plant has its own distinctive features, and flowers look more like T. africana, although smaller size (1" in diameter).

This variety commonly has been called "Salmon" but it fact it is bright orange. We changed the name to avoid confusion with another variety "Apricot" (item 5973) that is closer to salmon color.
One of the most rewarding flowering plants! Stunning display of orange flowers year round, from winter through spring and summer. Unlike other tecomarias, it is more of an upright shrub with naturally compact shape and doesn't shoot long leggy branches. You don't have to prune it, it keeps naturally rounded, bushy shape. Attracts butterflies.
It's an eye catching flower that appears all year round!

This tree yields smallish, ribbed and nut-like fruits which are picked when still green and then pickled, boiled with a little added sugar in their own syrup or used in preserves. The seed of the fruit, which has an elliptical shape, is an abrasive seed enveloped by a fleshy and firm pulp. It is regarded as a universal panacea in Ayurveda and in the traditional Tibetan medicine. Terminalia chebula is called the "king of medicines" in Tibet and is one of the prime Ayurvedic herbs from India because of its extraordinary healing powers. This fruit is best known for its health benefits within the digestive system, improves memory, helps with urinary stones and nervous irritability. According to Ayurveda, in combination with Emblica officinalis (Amla), it may help lower cholesterol and prevent the death of heart tissue.

It takes a bit of room to grow and makes a captivating focal point in the garden, and it is a conversation piece between gardeners since it is so rare and not often seen. Mickey Mouse Taro, Mighty Mouse. This curious variety of elephant ear is a must for every rare plant collection> Unusually variegated Aroid, it has irregularly margined leaves which when first opening, its edges are a cream yellow, later turning white, and often swirled. A show stopper! This plant is thought to be a mutation of a species. Most think it is a form of atrovirens or even a possible hybrid. The leaves are never identical most are streaked with large blotches of white on dark blue green leaves. One of the most odd features of the plant is the fact that most leaves will develop a small cup like pocket at the leaf tip and sometimes a small string like structure will form. Plants usually grow with leaves held horizontally. It is always a conversation piece in the garden. Mighty Mouse can reach 3-4 ft at full maturity making it a wonderful addition to your jungle.
