Neea, Saltwood, Pigeon Plum, Hoja de Salat. Rare in cultivation, this small tree or bush should get more attention from tropical plant collectors. The plant is very nice, easy growing and make those "jelly beans" like berries at least twice/year. The flowers are almost unnoticeable. The berries are very showy and come right after. It fruits for several months non stop. Mature fruit is edible. In its native countries, this plant is widely used medicinally. From book "Messages from the Gods. A Guide to the useful plants of Belize": "To treat babies who can not sleep, often accompanied with crying, especially when they have been frightened by chickens..." Very useful plant especially for those who are afraid of chickens!

Vietnamese Mickey Mouse plant, Hoa Mai, Mai Vang. Traditional Vietnamese New Year plant. The spectacular yellow flowers of this plant make it very popular in southern Vietnam, where the plant is purchased during Lunar New Year.
In Vietnamese, the variety of O. integerrima whose flowers have five petals is called Mai Vang (yellow mai), whereas Mai Nui (mountain mai) flowers have between five and nine petals.
A must for exotic plant collection, this is a rather slow growing, medium size shrub that can be trained into miniature tree. In winter the plant is covered with pretty bright yellow flowers, believed to bring good luck and prosperity. They are followed by cute shiny black berries on bright red sepals that resemble the face of Mickey Mouse. The plant is easy to grow and relatively cold hardy (to light freeze). This species has large oval leaves.

Philodendron Bloody Mary

Vine or creeperShadeSemi-shadeRegular waterModerate waterOrnamental foliageSubtropical, cold hardy at least to 30s F for a short time

Philodendron Bloody Mary is an evergreen rare cultivar, valued for its beautiful foliage. The thick and shiny leaves are fully burgundy in color in their juvenile form. On maturity, they turn dark green with prominent reddish hues and burgundy undersides. Moreover, red stems of the plant make it look more dramatic and attractive. The foliage shoots out in all directions including downward giving a draping look to the mature plant. Bloody Mary is easy to maintain and beautiful enough to decorate any corner of your house including hanging baskets and shelf-pots. This plant is relatively durable and it can thrive in many different conditions but it is more suited to bright light but not direct sun. It can, however, cope with low light.

Pick up only! Contact us for online order and shipping at your own risk. Leaves of this plant are very fragile and may be damaged during transportation.
An exquisite collectors plant originated from Columbia, yet so easy to grow. Unlike many Philodendrons, this species creeps along the ground rather than climbing up a support. Magnificent, heart-shaped deep green leaves have bright white veins that stand out like a beacon. It is ideally suited as a specimen house or patio plant. True to the name, Philodendron gloriosum is a "glorious" plant with leaves reported to reach a size of 36 inches in it's native growing areas.
Philodendron gloriosum is not a climber, it runs! The species prefers to grow in loose, well draining soil. Many growers prefer what is known as a "jungle mix" which is easily created by mixing potting soil with Perlite and extra bark and some charcoal to "sweeten" the soil. Keep the soil damp, just not soaking wet. Shade to semi-shade.

Leaves of this plant are very fragile and may be slightly damaged during transportation which does not hurt the plant. Trim as needed and more new leaves will grow quickly.

Photinia Red Tip

Small tree 10-20 ftFull sunRegular waterModerate waterWhite/off-white flowersOrnamental foliageFragrantAttracts butterflies, hummingbirds

This relative of a Rose receives its name from the fact that young leaves are red, gradually changing to a dark green as they mature. It also has bunshes of pretty white flowers attracting bees and butterflies. The leaves are the starring feature of this plant. Each new leaf that unfurls is a bright shade of red or bronze, but they gradually become a solid dark green as they mature. By continually trimming the ends of the shoots, the plant is stimulated to keep producing new leaves throughout the year.
Photinias are very popular ornamental shrubs, grown for their fruit and foliage. Numerous hybrids and cultivars are available; several of the cultivars are selected for their strikingly bright red young leaves in spring and summer. The natural range of these species is restricted to warm temperate Asia, from the Himalaya east to Japan and south to India and Thailand.

Phyllostachys nigra - Black Bamboo

Large shrub 5-10 ftFull sunSemi-shadeRegular waterOrnamental foliageSubtropical, cold hardy at least to 30s F for a short time

With jet black culms and feathery green leaves, this is perhaps our most sought after bamboo. New culms emerge green every spring and gradually turn black in one to three years. There is always a contrast of light and dark culms balanced by slender, dark green leaves. This bamboo is initially slow to spread, through when mature, it can be quite vigorous. P. nigra should be given a generous layer of rich topsoil, composed of compost or aged manure and mulch, and space to grow unimpeded. It makes an outstanding specimen, if well cared for, and can be the focal point of any garden. It can also be shaped to form a dense hedge for privacy. Black Bamboo and P. nigra 'Bory' are among the most prized bamboos for decorative wood working. Both will retain their dark or mottled colors when dried. USDA Zone recommended 7 through 10.
