Mountain Soursop, Wild Custard Apple, Guanabana de monte, Wild Soursop. The fruit resembles Soursop but with less sugar and has distinctive pineapple flavor.
The tree is small, evergreen, growing up to 20' tall. It has glossy dark green leaves and the fruit is spherical with a yellowish skin; it is covered with prickles. The pulp contains light brown to orange seeds.

Golden Honey Sugar Apple. This rare Annona is a species originally brought from Costa Rica.
It has a large, up to 1 lb fruit, green when unripe, sometimes with gray to brown spots, turning dark yellow to orange on ripening. The pulp is golden to orange, resembling papaya in color and Jackfruit in texture. Flavor is like the custard apple but with papaya, apricot and melon overtones. Note that some people dislike the taste, others find it good.

Edible tuber must be thoroughly dried or cooked before being eaten. These plants prefer a rich but well drained neutral to acid soil that does not dry out in the growing season.

Water no more than once a week during winter. In winter, the stems retreat back to the base. It grows best in rich, well-drained soil.

The flowers are small, with white hoods and about 1/2 inch across. The capsule is a pale green, and in shape an inflated sphere. It is covered with rough hairs. It reaches three inches in diameter. The plant is a food source for the caterpillars of Danaus butterflies, and is a specific Monarch butterfly food and habitat plant. It is also popular in traditional medicine to cure various ailments.

This plant is very attractive to butterflies. Long bloom period from late spring throughout the summer. Flowers are a nectar source for many butterflies and leaves are a food source for monarch butterfly larvae (caterpillars). Drought-tolerant.
