Grafting is a method of vegetative (or asexual) propagation where a piece of one plant (scion) selected for its flowers or fruit and containing the desired genes to be duplicated is inserted into a piece of another plant (rootstock), with a strong vigorous root system, usually a seedling.

Benefits of the graft:

  • making a clone of the parent plant ensures the same cultivar, since most fruit trees will not come true to seed
  • taking a scion from a mature plant reduces time to flowering and fruiting (from 10-12 years for a seedling to 2-3 years or less for a grafted plant)
  • introducing dwarfing, hardiness, disease and pest resistance.

Christmas: Early ripening type hence the name Christmas. Fruits are large for a loquat. Bright yellow with a tangy apricot flavor.

Loquat Gold Nugget has extra large sweet fruit. Very cold hardy fruit tree, easy to grow, drought tolerant, fast growing. Fruit are large size, yellow orange flesh, mildly sweet with very small seed inside. In Florida fruit ripens in late February-March. Fruit is great for eating fresh or making jam.

Oliver Loquat. In the past was considered the best loquat for South Florida. The fruiting season is March to May. It has medium to large fruit. The skin color is orange and the pulp is pale orange. The fruit is very sweet with only one-two seeds.

SUNSHINE™ Honey is a natural, Amber-colored, honey-like liquid microelement product for flowering, fruiting and edible plants. It makes fruit and edibles sweeter, tastier and more flavorful. It also promotes more efficient blossoming and pollination, makes flowers bigger and reduces bud drop.
Very effective for tropical fruit, tubers, vegetables. Great for tropical fruit trees: Mango, June Plum, Annonas, Tropical Cherries, Carambola, Citrus; subtropical fruit trees: Peaches, Apricots, Loquat and berry plants (blackberry, mulberry, etc.).
DIRECTIONS:
