This flat stemmed epiphytic cactus boasts brilliant red flowers which can reach up to 6" across. Flowering occurs in mid-spring. Originated from tropical forests in the states of Veracruz and Oaxaca, Mexico. It grows in a fern-like manner, arching toward the ground. Stems begin as round bases that grow to 7 inches long. Flourishes in the tropical environment. Despite the name cactus, it enjoys regular watering. In cultivation, it has been confused with Disocactus × jenkinsonii, a hybrid between D. phyllanthoides and D. speciosus.
