i bought this plant from TT garden center 1 1/2 yrs ago and planted it on a 5' fence on the north side of my house where it still got a lot of sun. It grew fast and lush with many flowers. The leaves,as someone mentioned, have an smell, especially when handled, reminiscent of cat pee. I had to remove it because of it's unbelievable growth rate: it sent out long arms on both sides of the fence looking for further support. I would trim it back, and two days later there would be 3' of new vine growth again reaching for my neighbor's air conditioner! I like vigorous plants, and it did look nice, covering a 10' wide swath of my black aluminum fence, but I couldn't keep up with the trimming.

I originally planted this vine on an arbor amongst clusters of foxtail palms and a large cassia tree. It completely outgrew this space, climbing up the palms and everywhere else in my garden. It also did not bloom well due to the partial shading in the area. This spring I moved it out onto an arbor in an open area where it blooms profusely and has room to expand to it's heart's content. So much so, in fact, I'm adding more arbors to accommodate it's growth spurt which has now exceeded 20'!!! We are both much happier!

Waited years for this plant to be available. A beautiful specimen arrived & grew quickly up the trellis. Many beautiful blooms. Unfortunately it died over the winter of 11 even though covered. This vine should not be grown in zones 10a & below.

Beautiful leaves - large heart shaped and a lovely green color. 'Tender-hearted' plant - new leaves and vines are soft green - almost a fuzzy soft texture ;-) Flowers don't last long but are gorgeous. It is spreading rapidly and we love that. Needs a trellis of some sort. Does not have 'tendrils' so you'll need to help support it a bit. Flowers do not have a fragrance. This plant puts out a odd smell but you have to be near it to smell it. Such a beauty!
