USDA Zone:15

I used to grow Nicandra in Virginia, USA.

I lived next to a dairy farm, so there were LOTS of flies. I read of this plant, and found some seeds. When the plants were in bloom, there were no flies in or near my house! I gave potted plants to friends, and they were as amazed as I was. One plant on a windowsill, and no flies in the house. There is no apparent fragrance or odor.

The flowers are very pretty, but they hang down under the leaves, so they aren't showy at all. They produce quantities of seeds that are easy to grow, like zinnias, or petunias. My plants grew to about two feet tall. I saved seed from ear to year.

A magic plant for those who have fly problems

Cheers,

Melissa
