This hibiscus has attractive maple shaped foliage that is either dark red or green. Leaves that are edible, acid, good for salads, and a good source of vitamin C. It forms an upright bush, but blooms late in the season. Flower is very similar to Hibiscus furcellatus.

I have this plant in our garden and another one in a pot. I haven't try eating the leaves and I'm not sure which one is the fruit. The flower of this plant only last for 24 hours. Then the bud will stay after it ejects the petals and the inside of the bud will grow and produce seeds.

this plant is very famous in southern part of India ( Andhra pradesh). Its local name is "gongura" or "punti kura" its leaves and fruits are edible. both leaves and fruits are very high in Iron contenets.
can be eatn raw ( tastes slight sour) or you can cook it just like spinach and eat it.

African Cranberry Hibiscus. This fast growing bush is covered with beautiful dark red flowers several times a year. Leaves are edible, acid, rich of vitamin C, good for salads. Very similar to Hibiscus furcellatus.
