This attractive, easy-to-grow plant can be found in several varieties, both variegated and plain green. The plain green often have wavy leaf edges. It is a plant I would recommend for someone without a green thumb, as it seems to have no special requirements. If its leaves become dusty indoors, you can place the whole plant in a warm, gentle shower when the leaves become too numerous to dust individually. Purchased small, the stems of young plants can be trained into various shapes and even braided. It can be used as a bonsai, allowed to grow into a tree, or pruned to be bushy. In spring, pinch out the new leaf tips or even take stem cuttings. The woody stems benefit from a dip in root stimulant before planting.
