Clerodendrum quadriloculare
Family: Lamiaceae (Formerly:Verbenaceae)
Winter Starburst, Fireworks, Clerodendron
Origin: Philippines
Large shrub 5-10 ft

Winter blooming specimen plant with large flower heads, 8-12" in diameter. Each flower is made up of scores of smaller 3-4 inch long flowers bursting from the center. It's a true "Show Stopper" as passers-by will marvel at this explosion of tropical beauty. Tourists especially like to have their pictures taken standing next to this colorful tropical tree. The leaves are great as well; succulent, green on top, and a strong purple underneath. It will grow to 12-15 feet and prefers moist soil. This plant will grow as either a large shrub or small tree.

Nancy Sebastian, FL USDA Zone:9b 28 Jul 2013	Mine was grown from a cutting off a top tropical plant and has grown amazingly quick, and as a small rooted cutting survived the winter's cold with a light frost. Maybe the shrub/tree needs to be of a certain size to bloom? If yours is large, I sometimes, feed once with a little orchid bloom fertilizer and that seems to bring many shrubs and stubborn fruit trees along.
