Vitis bryoniifolia
 Vitis sp.
Family: Vitaceae
Grapevines
Vine or creeperFull sunModerate waterWhite/off-white flowersYellow/orange flowersDeciduousEdible

Vitis is a genus of about 60 species of vining plants. The grape is usually a woody vine, climbing by means of tendrils (modified branches) and when untrained often reaching a length of 17 metres (56 feet) or more. In arid regions it may form an almost erect shrub. The leaves are alternate, palmately lobed, and always tooth-edged. Small greenish flowers, in clusters, precede the fruit, which varies in colour from almost black to green, red, and amber.

The plants are valued for their decorative foliage, often colouring brightly in autumn; their ability to clothe walls, pergolas and arches, thus providing shade; and their fruits, which may be eaten as dessert or provide the basis for homemade wines.

Vitis tiliifolia is a New World liana in the grape family commonly known as Caribbean grape. Other names include West Indian grape, water vine, and water tie-tie and water-wise.
It is a climbing shrub with thick, woody stems that can be over 20 ft long and up to 8" in stem diameter. The plant climbs into the trees and shrubs in the forest, supporting itself by means of coiled tendrils. Best known for the watery sap that can be obtained from the stems, the plant also yields a sour fruit, has local medicinal uses and can be used as cordage.

Wisteria sp., Chinese Wisteria, Japanese Wisteria, American Wisteria

Wisteria floribunda 'Issai Perfect'
 Wisteria sp.
Family: Fabaceae
Subfamily: Faboideae
Chinese Wisteria, Japanese Wisteria, American Wisteria
Origin: China and Japan
Can be used for bonsaiVine or creeperFull sunSemi-shadeRegular waterPink flowersWhite/off-white flowersBlue/lavender/purple flowersFragrantAttracts butterflies, hummingbirdsInvasiveSubtropical, cold hardy at least to 30s F for a short time

Species: Wisteria sinensis, Wisteria floribunda, Wisteria frutescens, Wisteria macrostachya. Vigorous, showy, woody ornamental vines that can climb trees, apparently limited only by the height of the tree, and have been observed to reach 65 feet. Unlike American wisteria (Wisteria frutescens), which flowers June through August, exotic wisterias flower in the springtime (April-May) and produce a velvety seed pod. The fuzzy brown seed pods are 4-6 inches long, narrowed toward the base, with constrictions between the seeds. Stems of the exotic wisterias can grow to 15 inches in diameter in older plants. White-barked Japanese wisteria vines twine clockwise around the host plant and Chinese wisteria twines counter-clockwise. Fragrant, violet to blue-violet flowers, to 1 inch long, occur in showy, pendulous clusters that hang gracefully from the twining stems. Exotic wisterias are long-lived, some vines surviving 50 years or more.

Wrightia sp., Thai Cherry Wrightia

Family: Apocynaceae
Thai Cherry Wrightia
Origin: Thailand
Large shrub 5-10 ftVine or creeperSmall tree 10-20 ftFull sunRegular waterWhite/off-white flowersFragrantAttracts butterflies, hummingbirdsSubtropical, cold hardy at least to 30s F for a short time

This plant is a woody shrub with vining habit. Can be trained into a nice small tree or trimmed into a shrub, but the best way is to let it go: the twisting branches form weird shapes. Slow growing plant, makes compact forms. Leaves are large to compare with other fragrant wrightias, 3-4" long and 2" wide and remind apple tree leaves. Fragrant flowers resemble cherry flowers. The plant blooms profusely on and off during spring and summer. Nice landscape plant due to its compact form. Relatively cold tolerant, will stand short period of cool weather.
