This is a low-growing shrub, distinctive for its long, drooping, usually leafless stems and the almost continuous clusters of small, bright red tubular flowers. Each plant produces many branches and is particularly effective when grown in a raised bed or rock garden so that the flower-laden stems hang down. Another species, R. sarmentosa, is a larger shrub with less showy flowers. Both varieties are attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Russelia will grow under both moist and dry conditions, but requires full sunlight and occasional pruning to flower well. Propagation is by division of old plants

I just received one of these from a mate. She yanked it out of her garden (because I admired it) with a few main roots and handed it to me. We live in a subtropical area, but I noted that hers seemed to be doing quite well in the shade - a part of her garden that doesnt seem to get more than a bit of dappled sun. Anyway have potted mine up and will see how it goes in full sun, in the pot before transplanting out... It's a pretty plant - i love the overhang, sorta like dangling fairy bells...

It is called 'Rasili' in Hindi accoding to Flowers of India website. That name means- full of nectar.
It is a nice bush and grows well in Florida and does not seem to need much water.Flowers do have sweet nectar -you can try sipping it from the bottom hole of flower .I am not sure if it is safe but small amount of nectar I sipped did not have bad effect on me.Supposed to attract Hummingbirds-however I never saw them around this plant.
