Origin: Malaysia

Johannesteijsmannia magnifica has large, undivided leaves that can reach a length of more than 10 ft and a width of up to 7 ft, rising directly from an underground rootstock. These huge, very leathery, roughly diamond-shaped leaves are strongly pleated along their length and have stunning, silvery white backs. The Silver Joey is native to rainforests in Malaysia. It will grow happily in a warm subtropical climate and, of course, anywhere in the tropics, in a shady, wind-protected situation. The peach pit-sized seeds are much sought after.
