Native to Tropical America, this small plant can grow 2 to 5 feet tall and can spread to 6 feet wide. It can be planted in semi-shade and is easy to look after with regular watering. The more often you water it, the brighter the foliage will appear, however, allow the top soil to dry before watering again. It can tolerate moderate water but too much water can result in root rot. This ornamental foliage is great for filling corners of any room, making it a perfect houseplant choice. It is recommended to be grown in USDA Zone 9 to 11, with temperatures above 50°F, however, it can be grown in colder regions if kept indoors during cold months. To grow it in pots in cold regions, bring it indoors during off-season and keep it in a bright spot. Provide sufficient light and keep the compost moist but not waterlogged. Fertilize your plant once or twice a year to promote healthy growth.
