The dark-green foliage really does resemble that of coniferous evergreens, and contrasts nicely with the lipstick-red narrow tubular flowers. As the plant matures, the stems become woody, forming an attractive evergreen shrublet with bright green needle-like foliage. It needs half to full sun to flower well and very good air circulation to be healthy.
