Passiflora racemosa is an evergreen climber to 5m, with 3-lobed leaves and pendent racemes of crimson flowers to 12cm across, with dark purple and white coronal filaments followed by pale green fruits. The pulp surrounding the seeds is edible.
Species among the most ornamental of the genus Passiflora, vigorous, fast-growing, and with the flowering going on for most of the year, which has originated several hybrids.
