Spectacular flowering tree, fast growing, can reach 30-50 ft. The soft fern-like foliage consists of bipinnate leaves that mauy be deciduous in cooler winter. Flowers in fall with beautiful cylindrical or cone shaped clusters of bright orange flowers that are bright red in bud. They come in 1-2 ft long inflorescences and have long bright yellow stamens on the tips of the branches. After flowering, a flat woody seed pot is produced up to 1 ft long. Very easy to grow, drought tolerant and practically pest free. It is relatively cold hardy to the upper 20s F.
