This tree reminds me of my childhood years in India. The tree grew without much care in a city near Delhi(similar environment as zone 10-11 of USA). It was a big beautiful tree with nice shade and produced delicious berries.Ripe berries fall of the tree easily when the branch is shaken. The berries are often salted lightly to make the taste even better-sweet and salty. Some people make sherbet with berry juice and it is a nice ,tasty, cooling drink. Fruit stains the clothes if you are not careful. It has one elongated seed that you spit out. Dried powdered seeds are used for treatment of variety of illnesses such as Diabetes. This tree has high medicinal value.Birds love the fruits too.
