There are approximately 15 species of Landolphia in Africa. The plants have white fragrant flowers and contain a milky latex which exudes when the young bark or unripe fruit are damaged. The fruit is edible, yellow when ripe, and the size of a large orange. It is normally extremely sour. Called Vbundu in Congo.
