Clappertonia ficifolia, Honckenya ficifolia Family: Tiliaceae Bolo Bolo Origin: Tropical Africa ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ver rare shrub, 4 to 8 feet tall (1.2-2.4 m); reddish young branches and petioles; oblong to ovate leaves, up to 6 inches long (15 cm), with 3 to 7 rounded serrate lobes. Short-lived white or mauve flowers, 2 inches in diameter (5 cm) with masses of yellow stamen. Fruit is a very funny fuzzy pale green hairy capsule, 2 inches long (5 cm). Needs full sun and regular water every day. Blooms freely throughout a year. |
