It is limited to tropical and subtropical climates and is not a common plant in cultivation. The fruits are eaten raw or cooked as dessert, or may be included in soup or in stuffing for meats. Roots and stems have antibacterial activities. It is highly drought-tolerant. |

Galphimia prefers well-drained soil and needs full sun to flower profusely but will grow in partial shade. It should be pruned back occasionally after flowering to make a better shape. Propagation is by means of cuttings or seeds, which are produced in abundance. |
