Liane, root climber at first, with small heart-shaped leaves with rounded ends, pressed to tree trunks; then mature foliage pendulous with some finer veins parallel to them, acuminate, up to 13cm long. Inflorescences very distinctive, pendulous, with up to 30 green flowers and 4 or 5 sack-like 3.5cm nectaries to attract humming birds.
