| Hoffmannia roezlii Family: Rubiaceae Taffeta Plant Origin: Mexico ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There are about 100 species of Hoffmannia, mostly shrubs and herbs. The common name Taffeta Plant refers to the satiny, taffeta fabric-like quality of the leaves. H. ghiesbreghtii is a shrub growing up to 4ft. The leaves are dark velvety green above and purple-red beneath. The flowers are star-shaped, yellow with red spot, appearing in clusters along the stems. The flowers are not especially showy. |
