| Gardenia hydrophila, Kailarsenia hygrophila Family: Rubiaceae Mok Luang, Candlestick plant Origin: Thailand ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In Thai this charming plant goes by the same name as Wrightia religiosa, with the addition of "big" or "important" (Mok Luang) but it certainly doesn't fit any Wrightia. It is sweetly but delicately scented, and the flowers are produced in a cyme, with the central flower opening first, and the others following in successive whorls. The flowers are about two inches long and one and a half inches across. The plant flowers at the end of new growth, so needs to be pruned after flowering, otherwise it becomes leggy. |
