| Ficus platypoda Family: Moraceae Port Jackson Fig, Rock Fig, Australian Fig ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Rock Fig is the most widely distributed of all Australian Figs ranging from rock outcrops in the central desert to the thickest rainforest. Often multi-trunked, it has smooth grey bark. It bears bright orange to red fruit which is relished by birds and other wildlife. In the central desert regions Aboriginal people made it into dried cakes as a survival food. Excellent bonsai subject. |
