| Citronella congonha (gongonha) Family: Icacinaceae Congoña, Naranjillo Origin: Paraguay, Uruguay ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Medium size shrub. Leaves are simple, alternate, coriaceous, widely ovate, edge generally dentate, spiny; apex ended in a sharp spine. Flowers are whitish, perfumed, inflorescences lateral or terminal born. Fruit is drupe oblong or ovoid, green 1-1,5 cm. Nice dence foliage. Blooms in spring, fruiting in summer. Natural from south Brasil and north Argentina, also north Uruguay. Propagation: by seed and air-layering. |
